We Wanna BE IN NC!!

It's time to cut hay in Crabtree. Several farmers have been cutting this week and the smell of fresh-cut hay is positively intoxicating. AND the honeysuckle is in full bloom, so we've enjoyed the wonderful scents!

This young bird visited our feeder yesterday and seemed to love the sunflower seeds.

We drove over Crabtree Mountain on the way home tonight and spotted this old lady beside the road. Old barns have such character and, I'm sure, stories to tell!

Here's my favorite shot of the valley...you can see the horses mid-field and the rolls of hay which the neighbors have helped crop.
We have LOVED being here this week...just confirms our desire to spend more and more time here in North Carolina. We spent time with our bestest buddies, ate lots of good food, visited some new places and just generally had a wonderful time. It will be so hard to leave tomorrow...the moon and stars were beautiful from the hot tub tonight and the fireflies put on a show. We could hear the frogs bellowing from the pond below. The temperature is 60 degrees at 10:30 pm with a gentle breeze...sound like heaven? IT IS!

Flooding Still Apparent in South Georgia

Here's what's left of the flooding at the Okefenokee Country Club as of this morning.


Here's the train at Jamestown; this crossing was closed yesterday because part of it was under water. The water at the right is the "pond" that is usually sandpits.


This is a home located off the Blackshear Highway...sad.


This is the Altamaha River in Wayne County...most of the year, there's a small sandbar where the brush is growing in the river and all the water up in the woods on the left of the river isn't there!

Paying It Forward

Operation Love Reunited is a great endeavor by pro photographers to provide images for those who are leaving our country to serve in the Armed Forces. Here's an image of Ben & Lynn, our first OPR family...prayers and thanks to them both for their willingness to have him serve to protect our country.

Mississippi Wedding

I've been too busy to post lately...just returned from Mississippi where we enjoyed capturing images and video of Marilyn's and Jim's beautiful wedding! Despite the cold, blustery weather, we had a great time working with this adorable couple and their terrific families!

March in North Carolina

The majority of our visit this time was spent inside because it RAINED outside! Of course, since NC is still in drought conditions, we're not really complaining, especially since we have a view like this from the back porch!

This morning, St. Patrick's Day, we awoke to BEAUTIFUL sunny weather...even the daffodils are up and smiling!

We drove out to Max Patch and hiked up to the top with friends...magnificent views! Met this duo, sisters from Chicago hiking the AT. It was a wonderful day!

Cataloochee Elk

We postponed our trip to Knoxville because of the weather, but late in the afternoon, the sky cleared and we decided to make a quick trip to Cataloochee. What a bonus! These two young elk were sparring alongside the road as we left...first time we'd seen elk at Cataloochee. We were the only visitors today, but it was certainly well worth the trip!

Elite Hair & Nail Salon

These lovely ladies are the ones you'll meet when you visit Elite Hair & Nail Salon. We had a great time photographing them and they do wonderful work!

Sunset on the Mountain

Just as we returned this evening, there was this incredible sunset! It was about 20 degrees, but the stars came out later and we had a fantastic lightshow from the hot tub!

Winter Beauty

We walked around Lake Junaluska this afternoon...quite cool, but we enjoyed our brisk walk! The lake is beautiful, even in winter.

Frozen Water Everywhere!

We arrived to find that our water pump had quit operating, so spent the first two days of our visit getting water! There was snow on the deck when we arrived and the pond was completely frozen!

Balsam Range

These are the incredibly talented gentlemen of Balsam Range, a well-known bluegrass group here in NC. We enjoyed their music at Thad Woods' New Year's Sing...first time we'd attended and it was quite an event. Thad knows many gospel musicians personally and was able to attract quite a group for this event.
